They cannot wait to get to the night club to let it all out. There is lust in the air, there is a need to be validated. They compete against each other; every night is a night of passion, excitement, happiness, yet also validation and pretentiousness.

Crazy Lifestyle

Sue goes to Lava, Pasoul, room18 a lot, she does not go to the big night club Luxy, “I don’t go to Luxy, all the girls there are over 165cm tall, and for us petite girls it’s a harder game.” Sue adjusts her skirt as another girl next to her tells her “your belt is too heavy, take it off, and skirt is not low enough.”

Sue is from southern Taiwan, although she is very well dressed, but compared to Taipei girls, she is missing something. Taking us to see the Taipei nightlife, it’s not about druggies or raves, but it’s with her fashionable university classmates. “Nikki and I are in the same class, language major, little Wu and Andy is in their third year, accounting...” These groups of young people are all from the most prestigious university in Taiwan.

“We don’t smoke, we don’t touch pills, we just relax during the weekends, and since we live with our families, we don’t get a chance to go out much.” Little Wu stressed, “Students from our university have a reputation, and that is why I really envy Sue.” She is from the south and rents on her own, “she lives by herself, so she can play all she wants, and most boys, they must have a car, to get girls.” He complains as he dunks a beer. Although his family is wealthy, his parents restrict his movements and he doesn’t have a car.

Sue, living by herself, after taking friends out every week, is already one of the most popular girls. Every Wednesday and Saturday she comes out, and parties with no inhibitions, “only because I can stay late, everybody else has to go home.” Everybody is used to KTV, clubbing, she said, “The correct order is dance, sing, eat breakfast, and then ‘rest’ for a little.”

“We dance till about 2am, and then go with whomever that can stay longer to sing karaoke, until about 5-6am, then we all go get some breakfast, and by this time we are mostly broken up into couples of 2, and then we all go find a place to ‘rest,’ or sleep together.” Of course, a lot of times this process has been shorted to dance club first, and immediately hookup sex right after.

Now most of the times after they dance and sing, they always discuss what is the most exciting thing to do next.

Don’t appear needy

Resting is sex. “Alcohol is important, you want to enjoy the buzz, but not be drunk, which will make you feel sick or throwing up, and then the fun is all over. When you are buzzed, you feel good with everyone, and you become brave. When guys see you like that, they will really want to take care of you and want to take you home.”

Sue is a cute petite and well educated, and she’s very conscious about her appearance, she is very patient and never go overboard with guys, “I like to find a dark corner to make out, and chit chat, but I will never go do it in the clubbing bathroom, when two people disappear, everybody knows what is going on, and people will talk behind your back.”

“Once I saw a drunk but very hot girl, after a guy takes her away for half an hour, comes back to continue dancing, after the light flashes, she’s still laughing, with a pubic hair in between her teeth! Me and my girlfriends’ jaw dropped.” Sue sometimes remind other girls, “When a guy is taking you home, and asks you if you want to go to a motel to rest, never directly say ‘yes!’, but you can just stay buzzed, smile or close your eyes, and the guys will get the hint.

“It is awkward when you wake up the next morning, and you won’t know what to say, but the more awkward the more you need to act natural. Most of the time I will ask ‘did you sleep well?’ And then I say I have to go to class. Sometimes I meet someone I really vibe with, I will talk and get to know them the next morning, and then exchange phone numbers. The funniest is after adding the phone number, and adding the name, I will realize I don’t remember his name!”
